The Department of Internal Medicine is committed towards providing comprehensive quality health care with the back-up of state of the art diagnostics at Zion Hospital, Bangalore. With the changing lifestyles of individuals, we place particular emphasis on disease prevention and early detection of ailments in view of the fact that Indians as a whole have a genetic predisposition for Metabolic Syndrome and its related complication such as Diabetes Mellitus, Heart disease and Cholesterol problems. Towards this end, Zion Hospital, the pioneers in preventive health care have designed various health checks to suit the needs of various age groups with different risk factors. Consultation with Physician is an internal part of Zion Hospital Health Check. To further this cause, the Department of Internal Medicine also plans to start specially clinic like Obesity Clinic, Hypertension Clinic, Vertigo Clinic and Geriatric Clinic.

In these Clinics the physician provides a patient hearing of the complaints does a detailed assessment of the problem and gives recommendations based on the history/examination. If required, an opinion from other department so sought and the plans of management is discussed with the patient in detail.


In this era when several specialists care for a patient and when several medicines are prescribed, the Department of Internal Medicine strives to prevent drug interactions, overdose and polypharmacy being the overall coordinator of patient care.


The Department of Internal Medicine also manages a 14 bedded, spacious modern medical Intensive care unit with all life support/resuscitation equipments, including but not limited to ventilators and continuous renal replacement therapy units.


The Department of Internal Medicine provides 24 hours coverage in the Inpatient and Critical care areas. We have also extended our out patient hours to the evening, to cater to the needs of the working population.
